I purchased this monitor for a friend who set up a registry with Amazon. I chose to add the gift wrap option because I had it sent to her house, and I wanted it to look pretty for the shower. I was embarrassed when my gift came up — she liked the monitor, but the wrapping was terrible — just a plain paper and cheap ribbon — not even a bow, and it didn’t have any kind of baby theme. Have the gift sent to you if you want it to look nice.

I use a Radio Shack plug in Intercom listen to TV news at the other end of the house, so I have a system to compare this one to.

It works fine and I like the music player on the baby unit, the call signal

and the temperature on the parent monitor.

Just that I put on a movie on the DVD player with the normal volume at a distance as specified and I couldn’t hear the music high tones at all

and voice tones weren’t as load as you would expect them to be!

I moved it nearer the speaker and got sound, but a baby who had to cry that loud would probably have to be really in bad shape?

I think that a more sensitive microphone would solve the problem, but cost

a lot more too. A jack for an external amplified microphone would

also solve the problem by allowing the use of standard audio microphones

and a booster amplifier to get enough output for broadcast.

Some nice features, some strange features, poor execution.

Pro: the battery seems to last a long time off the base

    Cons:

    1. The feature that keeps noise from transferring is annoying…most times it misses the cry and you just here static…or you are sleeping and you just here random noise from the unit.

    2. The temperature is way off…81F in the room…I think not…

    3. The talk button is easily bumped…leading to crying baby!!!!!

    4. When you turn the sound up or down, a very loud beep is issued…not helpful when turning the sound down for a reason.

I would choose a different sound monitor. We have another unit and will be replacing this one soon.

  4. My sister just had a baby so we picked this up for her and she and her husband love it

Does just what its supposed to do, lets them check on the baby from the other room, you can hear everything just fine, no interferance or problems at all that I could tell when i babysat

Some people on here were complaining about the color of the screen being different or something like that, but honestly I don’t notice that kind of thing so I couldn’t say if it was or wasn’t. The monitor works, that’s all i care about

If you’re looking for a baby monitor and don’t mind paying a little more for a good one, you might check this one out

Most important is that this product provides clean and secure communication. It is probably the best yet. It monitors my child’s room for temperature, it also plays quiet comfortable music. In today’s crowded environments the security feature is a real plus. The product is very well made as is usual with Philips products. The only feature missing is video although there is digital temperature on the parent unit.
